Paulding Jailers Charged With Sexual Assault: Sheriff's Office
After one female inmate accused Paulding County jailers of "inappropriate sexual contact," two more inmates made similar allegations.
DALLAS, GA — Two Paulding County jailers were arrested Thursday and charged with sexual assault in connection with what authorities called inappropriate contact between the jailers and multiple female inmates.
LaDarius Dominique Jones, 30, and Lucas Mays, 22, were each charged with three counts of sexual assault and one count of violation of oath of office, according to a statement from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office. The charges stem from allegations made by a female inmate earlier this month that two male jailers had “initiated inappropriate sexual contact” with her, according to the statement.
After an investigation uncovered video evidence and led two other female inmates to make similar accusations, the Paulding sheriff’s office fired Jones and Mays. The pair were subsequently arrested by agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

“It disgusts me that two of our jailers would betray the trust that our inmates and the public have in us,” Sheriff Gary Gulledge said in the statement. “We are sworn to uphold the law, and I will not stand for anyone, even if they are one of our own deputies or jailers, to violate the law and the trust of the community.”
Anyone with information is this case can contact the Paulding sheriff’s office at (770) 443-3010 or the GBI Tip line at 1-800-597-8477 (TIPS).
