Paulding Teacher Vaccinations Start Friday, Thanks To Walgreens
COVID-19 vaccinations scheduled Monday for Paulding County teachers had to be cancelled when supplies fell short. Then Walgreens stepped in.
DALLAS, GA — Paulding County educators will begin receiving single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccinations through their school system starting this Friday, thanks to Walgreens.
The pharmacy giant “stepped in and offered to help” last week after vaccinations scheduled for Monday had to be cancelled because of inadequate supply, said Jay Dillon, spokesperson for the Paulding County School District.
“Obviously, we were thrilled to hear from Walgreens and gladly accepted their generous offer,” Dillon said to Patch, quoting from an email sent Monday to school district staff.

Walgreens representatives told school officials they could vaccinate about 1,500 district staff, the email said. Walgreens can administer about 375 COVID-19 shots a day.
The COVID-19 vaccinations will be given on March 12 and March 15-17 at Paulding County High School. Shots will be administered from 9 am. to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. the following Monday through Wednesday.

Paulding educators originally had been slated to receive the two-dose Moderna vaccinations and had already started booking appointments. But last Friday that schedule was scrapped when the county health department told the school district it wouldn’t have enough doses to vaccinate everyone.
“We are extremely grateful to Walgreens for stepping in and offering to assist at this critical time,” the email to district staff read. “More information will follow, but for now please share the good news.”
