Severe Weather Along I-20 Expected Tuesday Afternoon: NWS

The National Weather Service reports a severe storm with potential for damaging winds and hail moving "slowly but surely" east on I-20.

Updated 3:55 p.m.

GEORGIA — Nearly a dozen Georgia counties — including Paulding, Douglas and Cobb — remain under a flash flood warning until 8 p.m. Tuesday. A severe thunderstorm warning for the same area ended at 3:45 p.m.

The severe weather is "moving slowly but surely to the northeast,” said Nick Morgan, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City. However, he added, the tornado threat is less than it was Monday, when a tornado swept through Douglasville, leaving one man dead.

General threats will include damaging wind gusts and hail, Morgan told Patch, with flooded roadways expected to be a problem.

"It's definitely a hazard if you're going to be out on the road," Morgan said. “If you’re going to drive, be careful, take your time, and give yourself extra time to get to where you’re going."
