Flood Warning Issued for Paulding County

Up to 2 inches have fallen in the area, and an additional 1 to 2 inches are expected Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Flood Warning for several counties in northwest Georgia, including Paulding County.

The warning is in effect until 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

The weather service said doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated at 3:40 p.m. that heavy rain was falling and the runoff may cause flooding on streams and small creeks in the warned area by this evening.

Up to 2 inches of rain have already fallen and an additional 1 to 2 inches are possible by 10 p.m., the weather service said. River levels are expected to rise throughout the night.

Do not attempt to cross water or unknown depth, on foot or in an automobile. Do not drive around barricades. Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising.
