Tanker Truck Crashes In Paulding, Spills 500 Gallons Fertilizer

A fertilizer truck rolled over several times Monday, causing liquid fertilizer to spill and close a Paulding County road.

DALLAS, GA - A fertilizer truck rolled over several times Monday, causing hundreds of gallons of liquid fertilizer to spill, closing down a Paulding County road for several hours, according to WSB-TV.

The Paulding County Sheriff's Office blocked traffic on Gulledge Road at Westin Way in the New Hope community due to the crash and related hazardous material spill. The road was open again by 10 p.m.

According to authorities, about 500 gallons of a liquid fertilizer called Specticle-Flo, which is manufactured by Bayer, spilled in the wreck, WXIA-TV reported. In addition, about 50 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled when the truck crashed.

Hazmat crews were called to the area to help clean up the mess.

Officials said the driver was taken to a hospital in Cartersville for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
