Weather Alert: Flooding Rain Possible in Dallas and Hiram

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement warning of heavy tropical showers.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City issued a Special Weather Statement Wednesday afternoon, warning of the possibility of flooding rain this evening.

The advisory includes all of metro Atlanta, including Paulding County.

In the 3 p.m. statement, the weather service said widespread heavy showers are possible through the evening, the product of a weak upper disturbance interacting with tropical moisture.

3:02 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9

TROPICAL SHOWERS WILL BRING PERIODS OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN.

WEAK UPPER DISTURBANCES WILL INTERACT WITH DEEP TROPICAL MOISTURE TO PRODUCE WIDESPREAD HEAVY SHOWERS WITH OCCASIONAL EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH THIS EVENING.

THE HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN COULD RESULT IN LOCALIZED STREET FLOODING, ESPECIALLY ALONG LOW LYING AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS.

MOTORISTS SHOULD SLOW DOWN AND BE PREPARED FOR POSSIBLE LOSS OF CONTROL DUE TO HYDROPLANING.

REMEMBER... WHEN WATER COVERS THE ROAD... TURN AROUND AND DON`T DROWN.
