Property earmarked for mixed-use development.

The county owns the building at 120 West Trinity Place, which houses some government functions.

The county had been in negotiations to sell the building to Decatur.

The city aims to redevelop the site, according to a report in the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

The Chronicle reported that Decatur is in talks with Cousins Properties Inc. for a project that would bring mixed-used retail and residential redevelopment to the site.

Cameron Golden, a Cousins spokesman, declined comment Tuesday.

Burke Brennan, DeKalb County spokesman, said the vote was deferred because the city is still ironing out the details with its developer partner.

He referred further questions regarding the project itself to Decatur officials, saying they, not the county, have zoning oversight, should should the county commission approve a sale of the building.

A Decatur official said it's too early in the process to discuss plans.

"It’s a bit premature but I will be happy to share information with you when we have secured ownership of the site," Lyn Menne, assistant city manager of community and economic development, told Decatur Patch.
