3 Indicted for Murder of Lithia Springs Couple

The couple were shot and killed in Cobb County trying to buy drugs, investigators believe. Their 2-year-old daughter witnessed the murder.

A Cobb County grand jury has returned indictments against three men believed to be responsible for the August double homicide of a Lithia Springs couple in their car as their young child watched.

Roy Lee Brown a/k/a Roy Lee Hicks, Demarco Thomas, and Raymond Ladell Webb allegedly set up a drug transaction with Anthony Costner for Aug. 6 in Powder Springs, at which time Brown is accused of shooting Anthony and his wife Catherine while their 2-year-old daughter sat in the back of the family car.

Anthony Costner died at the scene, while Catherine Costner died at a hospital from her wounds. The 2-year-old girl was not harmed and is now in the care of family.

According to the indictment, Thomas and Webb helped conceal evidence of the incident and then drove Brown out of Cobb County to a hospital. Brown was arrested on Aug. 8, while Thomas was picked up on Aug. 14, Patch reported in August. Cobb County jail records show Webb was arrested on Aug. 30.
