Accused Douglasville Shooter Arrested In Mississippi: Sheriff

A Georgia man accused of murder in connection with a shooting death in Douglasville was arrested Tuesday in Mississippi.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A Georgia man was arrested in Mississippi Tuesday and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of another man reported to be his boyfriend, authorities said.

V’Daul Devontae Malik Guyton, 24, was taken into custody late Tuesday afternoon by Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigators, with help from the Mississippi State Police and the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office. Guyton was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and theft of a motor vehicle.

Guyton’s arrest came after deputies that morning found a dead man with what appeared to be gunshot wounds at 3902 Swooping Court in Douglasville, according to a statement from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The victim has not yet been identified publicly by authorities.

Douglas County investigators were in Mississippi as of Wednesday afternoon, examining evidence and following up on the arrest, according to the sheriff's statement.
