Alexander High FBLA Adopts Animal Shelter As Service Project
Alexander High School's Future Business Leaders of America has discovered the rewards of caring for our community's pets and animals.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA – Alexander High School’s Future Business Leaders of America, or FBLA, has discovered the rewards of caring for the community’s pets and animals. The student group has chosen the Douglas County Animal Shelter as their community service project for the year. When choosing a project, executive committee members, CJ Davenport, Madison Green, Reece Blackley, Tinasia Coleman, Jake Suttles, Maddie Wisener, Lexus Agee, and Elijah Boyett elected to select a cause that other FBLA members would passionately support.
In November, FBLA members organized a blanket and towel drive and DECA students joined the cause. Members from both clubs donated blankets and towels to replenish the shelter’s supply of the much-needed items. At the end of the drive, members had collected a small mountain of blankets and towels to ensure that every cat and dog in the shelter has a clean blanket to rest on each day.
This December, Alexander Advanced Marketing students joined FBLA for a field trip to the shelter and a special visit with a dog named Alexander. Megan DeBisschop, Resource Coordinator for the Douglas County Animal Shelter, conducted the tour for the students and later served as a guest speaker for Alexander High School students.

DeBisschop said that she was thrilled to have young people get involved with the shelter and to become more educated about the animal shelter and pet ownership in general. DeBisschop hopes that when the students graduate, they will volunteer to continue helping meeting the needs of the Douglas County Animal Shelter.
