Alexander High Schoolβs Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is having a busy year. Alexanderβs FBLA Chapter is led by a new FBLA adviser, Michael Owens. Coach Owens comes to Alexander from Hiram High School. As a new teacher to AHS, he fully committed himself to the Cougar family by not only teaching the Accounting pathway but also through coaching football and track.
The Executive Committee of Alexanderβs FBLA, which is comprised of sophomore, junior, and senior students, has put their focus on improving the club in many ways. This year, the Committee set a goal of increasing membership and began to recruit more freshmen and sophomores to join. In an attempt to increase membership, the FBLA chapter hosted an ice cream party for new members at the beginning of the year. In response, the club has met its goal with a current membership count of 87, which is a 30% increase from last year, and increasing freshmen and sophomore membership by 40%!
In October, the club toured Mercedes Benz Stadium. The students learned about many elements of the stadium that they would not know just from attending events. These included the architecture of the stadium, the costs involved in such a huge building project, the elements of the stadium that supported sustainability and the extra steps that were taken to enhance the fan experience. FBLA member, Colin Milton, said that it was an amazing experience and that he would never look at Mercedes Benz Stadium the same way again.
