Alzheimer’s, Younger Onset

Urge Senator Perdue to support the Alzheimer's bills

(Alzheimer’s Association)

There are more than 150,000 in Georgia living with Alzheimer's, and one is my mom who is affected by the disease since 2014. My family had no idea what to do and how to do it to maintain her quality of life. That is why I am an advocate so no family will experience what we did. As the sixth leading cause of death in the United Stated and fourth leading cause of death in African Americans, we need our elected officials to make Alzheimer’s a national priority.

As an advocate for those living with Alzheimer's and other dementias, I was fortunate to meet with Senator Perdue's Deputy Chief of Staff, PJ Waldrop on February 18 to discuss the staggering impact of Alzheimer's in Georgia and across the nation. In a meeting in their district office, my fellow advocates and I shared our own experiences with this devastating disease, and urged them to support priorities such as the Improving Hope for Alzheimer's Act. This important bill would help educate clinicians on Alzheimer’s and dementia care planning services through Medicare, and would ensure Georgians with dementia and the 533,000 caregivers who care for them receive the care planning services they need

Please join me in urging Senator Perdue to co-sponsor this important bill!
