Another closure For Douglas County's Post Road I-20 Bridge

DOUGLASVILLE, GA - It seems the trouble with the Post Road Bridge over I-20 isn't over yet.
Last summer, between June 17 and Aug. 30, the bridge was closed for a rehab, frustrating many in west Douglas County. When it reopened residents thought the detours and long commutes was over.
But it seems there is probably one more weekend to go, according to the Douglas County Sentinel.

The Georgia Department of Transportaiton said there will be additional work soon to fix a gap in the bridge.
The gap is normal due to the bridge not receiving a polymer overlay treatment, according to GDOT spokeswoman Tori Brown. She said that once the overlay is completed, the contractor will install required construction joints to fill in the gaps.

“Our area office is in contact with the contractor to schedule a date for them to complete the bridge,” Brown told the Sentinel.
There is no timetable on when the work might take place. Brown said, "tentatively, the closure will last a weekend."
In addition to motorists, including commuters in the area, the bridge closure last year also affected bus operations that serve western Douglas County schools, including Mason Creek Elementary, Winston Elementary and Mason Creek Middle School.
