Deputies To Patrol Douglas County Railroads On Tuesday

Douglas County sheriff's deputies on Tuesday will give tickets to violators, as well as railroad safety cards to motorists and pedestrians.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — On Tuesday, Sept. 24, deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office will be patrolling railroad crossings in the county as part of Operation Clear Track, a nationwide effort to raise awareness and enforce state laws that govern railroad crossings and prohibit trespassing, the office announced.

The third annual Operation Clear Track, part of Rail Safety Week (Sept. 22-28), will involve more than 600 law enforcement agencies nationwide. It's organized by Operation Lifesaver, a nonprofit rail safety education organization.

During Operation Clear Track, Douglas County sheriff's deputies will be stationed at various railroad grade crossings to issue citations or warnings to violators. They also will pass out railroad safety cards to motorists and pedestrians.
