Douglas County Election Guide 2019: Douglasville, Villa Rica

In Tuesday's elections, candidates are running for a City Council seat in Douglasville, and for mayor and a City Council seat in Villa Rica.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Election Day is on Tuesday, and in Douglas County, races are taking place in Douglasville and Villa Rica.

In Douglasville, three candidates are running for the Ward 4 seat on the City Council, including the incumbent, Chris "Coach" Watts, as well as Joseph B. Brooks and Samuel L. Byrd III. Registered voters in Douglasville can cast their ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at these precincts:

  • 736N – Chapel Hill Middle School – 5357 Chapel Hill Road
  • 737 – Chestnut Log Middle School – 2544 Pope Road
  • 739 – Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd – 3099 Chapel Hill Road
  • 740 – First Baptist Church-Douglasville – 5900 Prestley Mill Road

In Villa Rica, Mayor Jeff Reese has chosen not to seek re-election, and three candidates are running to succeed him: Gil McDougal, Dominque Conteh and Michael Day.

There also will be a special election to fill the Ward 4 council seat vacated by McDougal, who resigned to pursue the mayor's seat. The three candidates are Julie Hall, Peg Taylor and Michael Young.
