Douglasville Boy Wants to Feed 50 for Thanksgiving: I Year Ago on Patch

He wanted to buy -- and cook -- holiday meals for families in need.

A Douglasville boy wants to prepare and donate 50 Thanksgiving meals this season.

And he’s asking for help.

Beau Wilkins, 10, wants to “buy AND COOK turkeys and give them to families with children who cannot afford to cook a Thanksgiving meal,” mother Allison posted on a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for the boy’s cause.

The goal is to purchase 50 turkeys, 50 pans of green bean casserole, 50 pans of sweet potato casserole and 50 packs of rolls. As of noon Monday, more than $1,500 of the $5,000 goal had been raised.

Beau’s good deed attracted the attention of WXIA-TV, which interviewed him for this report.

“I think it’s important to help other people. And it’s like, everybody’s family, so we need to help family,” Beau told the TV station.
