Douglasville Ex-Marine Recruit Faces Child Molestation Charges

Pless Dewayne Strickland of Douglasville was discharged Oct. 4 from Parris Island and arrested on child molestation charges: media report.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A Marine Corps recruit from Douglasville was discharged this month from the training center at Parris Island, S.C., and accused by authorities of child molestation and related charges, according to a published report.

On Oct. 4, deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office arrested Pless Dewayne Strickland, 18, at the Parris Island gate soon after he was discharged, reported the Island Packet, a newspaper based in Hilton Head, S.C.

Strickland was arrested on a fugitive from justice charge, based on warrants issued in Georgia.

He was extradited the next day to Georgia by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the newspaper reported.

The charges against Strickland include child molestation, sodomy, aggravated sodomy and two counts of aggravated child molestation, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office did not respond to repeated queries from Patch about the case.
