Flood Watch Begins Monday: Timeline, Impacts

Another round of heavy rains may impact area rivers and streams, according to the National Weather Service.

A flood watch will go into effect for the area beginning Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The watch will be from 1 p.m. Monday until 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Showers and a few thunderstorms could bring 1 to 2 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts possible beginning around daybreak on Monday and continuing through the day and into Monday night, according to the NWS.

“Flooding from last week’s heavy rains continues along many creeks and rivers across North Georgia,” the NWS notes. “This additional rainfall will likely prolong flooding in many of these areas.”

New flooding could also result from the expected rains, including temporary urban and street flooding due to poor drainage and clogged drains.
