Flood Watch Extended Until Saturday Morning: Timeline, Details
Rain has stopped in metro Atlanta, but runoff concerns continue, according to the National Weather Service.

The flood watch in metro Atlanta and the broader North Georgia region has been extended to 7 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
The rain has ended, but runoff and river flooding is still a concern.
Total rainfall has reached 3 to 9 inches across most of North and Central Georgia, according to the NWS, with an additional 1 or 2 inches expected. Locally higher amounts are possible, mainly across North Georgia.

Small streams and rivers are of particular concern, but temporary urban and street flooding will occur due to poor drainage and clogged storm drains.
“This has been, and continues to be, a long-duration and complex heavy rain event,” according to the NWS statement. “Some rivers and streams may take several days to respond and continue to flood even after the heavy rain ends. Others will flood more quickly.”
