Flood Watch Issued for Metro Atlanta

Rainwater amounts of up to three inches are expected across the Atlanta area Thursday. What you need to know:

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA -- Heavy rain Thursday could cause some trouble for motorists, according to the National Weather Service.

A flood watch will be in effect from midnight through Thursday afternoon for most of North Georgia.

Rainfall will become heavy late in the night. Amounts are expected at 2 to 3 inches, with isolated higher amounts expected.

“Runoff from this rain could push rivers and creeks above flood stage,” according to the NWS. “Also, temporary street flooding and road ponding are possible due to poor drainage and clogged storm drains.”
