GA New Year's Grocery Hours: Publix, Kroger, Walmart, Whole Foods

ATLANTA, GA — Are metro Atlanta grocery stores open regular hours on Dec. 31, New Year's Eve, for last-minute shopping trips to stock up on snacks and drinks? And what are store hours on New Year's Day, Jan. 1? Many stores have normal hours both days, a few chains close early on New Year's Eve, and a few are closed altogether on New Year's Day.

Here are the hours for grocery stores that will be open on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, and New Year's Day, Jan. 1, along with a list of those that won't. Information is taken from their websites, social media and emails to Patch.

Some stores may vary:

• Publix: All Publix stores will open at regular hours and close at 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve.
  Most Publix stores will open at regular hours and close at 7 p.m. on New Year's Day. All Publix pharmacies will be closed on New Year's Day.
• Kroger: Stores are open regular hours on New Year’s Day and Eve. Pharmacies are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 1 and regular hours on New Year’s Eve. Call your store to check.
• Save-A-Lot: Save-A-Lot stores will modify hours or close on New Year's Eve and will be closed New Year's Day. Customers will need to contact the customer service department for specific hours.
• Piggly Wiggly: All stores are open on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
• Winn-Dixie: Winn-Dixie will be open until 9 p.m. New Year's Day.
• Costco: New Year's Eve: Stores open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. Jan. 1: Closed.
• Safeway: Open regular store hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
• Whole Foods: Open until 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve and open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on New Year's Day. Check your local store hours online.
• CVS: Most stores open normal hours on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day; pharmacy hours may be shorter on Jan. 1.
• Target: New Year's Eve: Stores open at 7 a.m. but closing times may vary. New Year's Day: Open normal hours.
• Trader Joe's: New Year's Eve: All stores close at 6 p.m. New Year's Day: Closed.
• Walmart: Most stores open regular hours on both Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
• BJ's Wholesale Club: New Year's Eve: Open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year's Day.
• Sam's Club: Stores close at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve; closed on Jan. 1.
• Walgreens: Most stores are open on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day regular hours. Many pharmacies are closed on New Year's Day. Check their website for the hours for your specific location.
