Georgia Weather: A Snowy Morning, More On The Way
In metro Atlanta, "wintry precipitation" greeted many Friday. See how long the National Weather Service says it will last.

ATLANTA, GA — It was a snowy landscape as much of metro Atlanta awoke Friday morning, with more snow likely on the way. The National Weather Service is calling for a rain-and-snow mix to turn to all snow Friday and continue through Friday night.
Fortunately, temperatures in north and central Georgia had remained above freezing as of Friday morning, meaning that the slushy rain and snow was not causing roads in the metro area to freeze into dangerous black ice.
Still the weather service Friday morning issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of north and central Georgia, including metro Atlanta. According to the NWS, the wintry mix of rain and snow should turn to all snow across north and west-central Georgia Friday.

It's expected to end Friday night, though, with snow accumulations possible as far south as Columbus, Americus and Dublin. Most, if not all, of those snow accumulations should be in grassy areas and on elevated surfaces, the NWS said.
A winter-weather advisory was in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday for metro Atlanta counties including Forsyth, Hall, Fulton, Gwinnett and DeKalb. That advisory calls for "periods of light to moderate snow," with accumulations up to one inch expected.

A few slick spots could develop on roads, especially bridges and overpasses, the weather service said.
Things could get a bit tricky Saturday morning. Friday night's temperatures are forecast to just barely drop below freezing, with a predicted low of 31 degrees. That could mean moisture left on roads could freeze over into black ice, making driving conditions hazardous.
Once that clears up, we should be home-free. The weather service says there is no hazardous weather in the forecast starting Saturday and running through at least Thursday.
