Harvester Hawks Headed to Elite 8

Varsity girls' basketball team beats Praise Academy to advance in the state competition

Last night, the Harvester Christian Academy varsity girls’ basketball team earned its spot in the Elite 8 of the Georgia Association of Private & Parochial Schools’ (GAPPS) state competition by winning against Praise Academy. On Friday, February 14, the Lady Hawks will travel to Douglas, Georgia for their next game in the bracket. The game is scheduled for 5:30pm against Georgia Christian School from Valdosta.

β€œThe Lord has truly blessed us this season,” says coach. β€œWe’ve got great spirit and hardworking girls who love the game.”

On Tuesday night against Praise, the teams traded baskets for most of the game. In the last two minutes, the Lady Hawks went on an unanswered 8-point run, giving them the win. The varsity girls’ basketball team ended its regular season with a 15-3 record.

Harvester Christian Academy is a private school serving pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade students in Douglasville, Georgia. With 16 state championships in its 32-year history, Harvester Christian Academy has a decorated athletics program. Seniors typically garner over $2 million in college scholarships annually and 100% are accepted into college. With art, music, and STEM courses, competitive sports for every age, drama, physical education, over a dozen clubs, AP courses and a dual-enrollment initiative, the school carries out its mission of β€œtraining minds to lead and hearts to serve.”
