Harvester Students Win "A World Without Hate" Contest
Three students took home 1st and 2nd place honors in their age group
The Anti-Defamation League of Atlanta and the Museum of History & Holocaust Education at Kennesaw State University co-sponsor an annual art & writing contest, which is open to students in grades 3-12 who reside in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina. In 2020, one Harvester student, Sophia Boronosky, won first place in the middle school competition for her "Love & Hate" artwork. Sarah Mathew's storyboard won second place in the middle school competition and Madeline Kurz's poem won second place in the 3rd-5th grade competition. This is the second year in a row that Harvester students have received awards in this contest.

Hundreds of entries are received and students are asked to "imagine a world without hate. What would the world feel like, look like, sound like? What can be done to make the world a place where all people are accepted and appreciated for who they are? Students should also consider what they personally can do to help create a world without hate." Original written or artistic expressions may include essays, poetry, short stories, screenplays, videos, drawings, paintings, photographs, collages or computer art.

Winners are traditionally invited onto the campus of Kennesaw State University to receive a certificate and monetary prize. However, due to COVID-19, winners of the 2020 competition will have a digital presentation and their prizes will be mailed. First and second place winners in each age group will have their entries displayed at the Kennesaw State University Museum of History & Holocaust Education.
