Here Are Open Seasonal Jobs At Target, Michaels, UPS, Kohls In GA

ATLANTA, GA — To prepare for the additional demand that comes with holiday shopping, a number of big-name companies with operations in the Atlanta area plan to hire seasonal workers across the country for the 2019 holiday season.

Minnesota-based Target is one of the companies hiring for the holidays with plans of adding more than 130,000 seasonal team members across the country.

"It's critical we build the right team across our stores and supply chain to deliver an exceptional holiday experience for our guests during the busiest time of the year," Melissa Kremer, chief human resources officer at Target, said in a statement.

In the Atlanta area, Michaels, Amazon, Target, Kohl's and UPS have open positions in locations across the region.

Below is a detailed look at the companies hiring and the specifics of the positions being offered:

Target

Seasonal workers will have a variety of roles at more than 1,800 Target stores. About 8,000 positions are located within distribution and fulfillment centers where team members will focus on processing freight to stores and fulfilling orders placed online.

Seasonal hires will get a minimum starting wage of $13 an hour. There will be two rounds of hiring events at Target stores across the country; the first from Oct. 11-13 and the second from Nov. 2-3. Those interested can also apply online.

Target also gives seasonal workers additional benefits like discounts and flexible schedules.

Michaels

The country's largest specialty arts and craft retailer, Michaels, announced that it will hire about 15,000 seasonal positions across its U.S. and Canada stores and distribution centers for the 2019 holiday season. As a seasonal worker, you’ll benefit from competitive wages, flexible hours, and a 30 percen discount. Last year, Michaels hired more than 40 percent of seasonal in-store positions into regular roles following the holidays

UPS

UPS expects to hire about 100,000 seasonal employees to handle the anticipated increase in packages.

“We expect another record peak season this year, with daily package deliveries nearly doubling compared to our average of 20 million per day,” Jim Barber, chief operating officer of UPS, said in a statement. “In order to make that happen, once again we’re recruiting about 100,000 people for some of the country’s best seasonal jobs.”

The positions available at UPS are primarily for package handlers, drivers and driver-helpers. UPS says that over the last three years, 35 percent of people hired for seasonal package handler jobs were later hired in a permanent position after the holidays.

Amazon

Amazon says it is starting to hire for “tens of thousands” of season roles for its operations network in the coming weeks. The positions pay $15/hour and applicants can apply online.

In addition to its seasonal hiring, Amazon is hosting a career day on Sept. 17 in six U.S. cities to recruit for more than 30,000 permanent jobs. The job fairs will take place in Arlington, Virginia, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Nashville and Seattle.

Kohl’s

Kohl’s began hiring seasonal workers in July to staff up for back-to-school shopping. The company also needs seasonal workers for the fall and the holiday season.

Positions are open at 500 Kohl’s stores nationwide. The company still has a number of seasonal positions available that can be found on its website.
