DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A Douglasville man died Sunday when his house on Christy Ridge Drive was destroyed by fire.
Emergency 911 operators began receiving multiple calls before 5 a.m. Sunday about a house fire in the 3100 block of Christy Ridge Drive, according to Douglas County spokesperson Rick Martin. When firefighters arrived, they found a single-family house fully involved in flames. They also were told that a 46-year-old man was still inside.
Although firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before it spread to other homes, the house was so thoroughly destroyed that they couldn’t even tell if there had been a working smoke detector inside.
