The 1.1 million dollar effort is a collaborative effort between the City of Douglasville, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), and engineering firm AECOM.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Rochelle Robinson said, "this is going to enhance the Highway 92 re-alignment project so that when you come through this intersection exiting I-20, people will be able to see a beautiful gateway into the city".

"GDOT considers this project an investment in highway sustainability", said spokesman Paul Denard. "This project really serves a dual purpose in not only preserving the grading of the intersection, but enhancing the character and charm for people entering the city of Douglasville from I-20".
The construction should begin by late January or early February, and depending on the weather, should be complete by late spring.
