'Keep Douglasville Beautiful' Recycling Event Set For Oct. 1

Items -- from electronics to shoes to eye glasses -- can be dropped off at the event, at First Presbyterian Church.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Keep Douglasville Beautiful's fall recycling event has been set for October 1.

The event, which will be on a Saturday, will run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church overflow parking lot at 9190 Campbellton St. in Douglasville.

"If it plugs in, uses batteries or has metal content, we can take it," the group said in a news release.

The following is a list of the items that will be recyclable at the event:

  • Electonics: Laptops, radios, computers, cellphones, keyboards, printers, tablets, video game consoles and handheld devices. Tube TVs and tube monitors are accepted with a $5 minimum donation per item.
  • Scrap Metal: Bikes, BBQ grills, metal lawn furniture, trampoline parts, basketball goals, etc.
  • Shoes: Gently worn tennis shoes, sandals, boots, heels, cleats, etc. No flip flops or house shoes/slippers.
  • Eye Glasses: The Douglas County Lions Club will be collecting eye glasses and hearing aids for the Lighthouse Program.
