In Memory: Jacob Andrew Ivey, 21, of Douglasville

Jacob Andrew Ivey, age 21, of Douglasville, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. He was born on March 1, 1994 in Warner Robins, GA to Michael and Marvalane Gilreath Ivey.

Jacob was a graduate of Alexander High School, Class of 2012. He was an active member of the Alexander High School Marching and Concert Bands, playing instruments ranging from piccolo to tuba. He was also a member of the Douglas County Honor Band and the Christian Community Orchestra. Jacob truly loved performing. Along with his love of music, he was an avid animal lover, from the most domestic to the most exotic. Jacob was a photographer with Lifetouch and a member of Central Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Joey Ivey; sister, Alana Ivey; grandmothers, Grace Gilreath, Gainesville, GA, and Joan Ivey, Mableton, GA; aunts and uncles, Wanda (Russ) Yow, Tricia (Grover) Jones, Marsha (Steve) Staggs, Sandra (Dennis) Tucker, Stacy (Mark) Fisher, Angie Ivey (fiancé, Steve Goodyear), and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers; Paul Ivey and Marvin Gilreath.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 5:00 PM at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Steve McFall officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 5-8 PM, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the newly formed Jacob Ivey Music Scholarship Fund. This scholarship will be used by a selected senior at Alexander High School to further their musical education in a post secondary setting. Jacob loved music and would be honored that his legacy and love will be continued throughout the future. Please send your donations to:
