Rev. Roy 'Shorty' Clifford Rowland, 83, Of Douglasville, Obituary

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Reverend Roy "Shorty"Clifford Rowland, age 83, of Douglasville passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 9, 1935 to Walter Rowland and Clara Johnson Rowland. During his career he worked as a sheet metal worker at Potter Rayfield, he worked for 15 years with the Douglas County School System as a custodian at Turner Middle School, and he did lawn mower repair.

He was an Ordained Minister and a member ofLiberty Baptist Church in Winston. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Rowland; children, James Roy Rowland and wife Nina, Carl Rowland and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Chady Kelley and wife Alicia, Brittany Harris and husband Terry, J.D. Floyd, Makaley Rowland, Savannah Rowland, Thomas Rowland; great grandchildren, Christopher Franklin, J.J. Franklin, Jadyen Kelley, Joey Kelley; sisters, Minnie Lee Williams, Lorriane Horton, Martha Spakes; brothers, Lamar Rowland and wife Jewell, Harold Rowland, Eugene Rowland; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Inez Griffin; brothers, Raymond Rowland, Albert Rowland, Carroll Rowland, Richard Rowland, and Horace Rowland.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Hightower's Memorial Chapel in Douglasville, with Reverend Steve Sommers and Reverend Marvin Gunter officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
