Severe Thunderstorm Watch: Timeline, Impacts

Damaging winds, large hail and isolated thunderstorms all possible as strengthening storm system moves into the region.

A storm line will be moving through the region tonight, possibly with dangerous winds and large hail possible across the region, according to the National Weather Service.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 2 a.m.

Primary threats include likely scattered damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph as well as isolated large hail up to 1 inch in diameter and isolated tornadoes.

"Thunderstorms are now forming over Northern Alabama and are expected to increase in coverage and strength through later tonight," according to a weather service statement.
