Six Flags Hallowfest To Offer Socially Distanced Scares For All

This year, Six Flags "scare actors" won't be the only ones with masks, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.

COBB COUNTY, GA — The coronavirus may change a lot of things for this Halloween season, but Six Flags Over Georgia doesn’t intend to give up the ghost just yet.

This year’s Hallowfest will include family-friendly “Thrills by Day” and scarier “Chills by Night,” including roller-coaster rides in the dark — all while masked and socially distanced.

It’s scheduled to run every weekend from Sept. 18 through Nov. 1, with limited capacity to prevent overcrowding on Saturdays and Sundays. Reservations are required, and slots are expected to fill quickly.

Before night falls, “Thrills by Day” will offer the kids trick-or-treat sweet, magic shows and games. Costumed characters will be kid-friendly witches, scarecrows and clowns.

At 6 p.m., the park will go dark with “Chills by Night,” which will include creepy music and fog, along with railroad conductors telling haunted stories during rides.

  • Social distancing strictly enforced.
  • A limited number of nighttime scare-actors will remain at least 6 feet away from guests and each other.
  • Guests viewing outdoor entertainment will be separated by at least 6 feet.
  • Everything will be sanitized regularly.
  • Lots of hand-washing and alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations will be available for all.
