Teenage Suspect Sought In Connection With Lithia Springs Shooting

Douglas County authorities say they believe Nathanael Searcy is responsible for killing Melvin Porter Tuesday in Lithia Springs.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Douglas County authorities are seeking the public’s help to locate a teenage male wanted for what they say they believe was a homicide in Lithia Springs.

Nathanael Michael Searcy, 17, has an active warrant for felony murder in connection with the shooting death Tuesday of Melvin Porter, 21, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies found Porter dead in a minivan when they responded Tuesday to reports of a vehicle collision and shots fired in the Silver Creek subdivision of Lithia Springs.

After interviewing witnesses and examining home-security video, investigators said they had identified Searcy as Porter’s killer.

Two men identified by the sheriff’s office as Searcy’s associates have already been arrested: Abdulmujeeb Adisa Raji and Kyle James Girard. Both were charged with being party to a crime, and Girard was charged with tampering with evidence and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Searcy is a Black male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.
