Thank you to Congressman David Scott & House of Representatives

The House of Representatives took a huge step forward for patients of Alzheimer’s, related dementias and their families. The House Passed both the Older Americans Reauthorization Act containing key provisions of The Young Onset Act and Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act this week.

In one day, Monday October 28th, they addressed the support needs of 200,000 patients diagnosed with Young Onset Alzheimer's by allowing them to access benefits services previously afford to those 65 and older. Additionally, they recognized the need for training a Dementia Capable Workforce for Alzheimer's patients in need of Palliative and Hospice care. The passing of the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act will provide better coordinated quality care for patients with advanced stages of dementia. This step is extremely important as the ages of those affected seem to be getting younger. I have seen first hand the devastation that this causes a family and they need al the resources that they can get to help them care for their loved one.
