Rain chances will sneak into the weekend, but not for long. Here's the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

Rain chances have been lingering for too long, but we'll finally get a break this weekend.

The current weather pattern will continue to produce areas of light to moderate rain across the state through early Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Total rainfall amounts will range generally from .25 to .75 inches over central Georgia to .25 inch or less over north Georgia.

Here's the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

  • Friday Afternoon: A 50 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 62. Northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • Friday Night: A 40 percent chance of rain, mainly before 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 49. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • Saturday: A 10 percent chance of rain before 7am. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. East wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
  • Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 50. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
  • Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 72. East wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.Sunday NightClear, with a low around 50.

One thing we're not looking forward to: Increased tornado threats are predicted for May across the region, according to Accuweather.
