Each year, the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation works with private sponsors like Home Depot to organize Bring One for the Chipper events around the state.
Since its inception, the Chipper program has recycled an estimated 6 million Christmas trees, according to the foundation. The program transforms trees into mulch for playgrounds, city and county landscaping projects, and individual homes. Many communities also choose to sink the trees into lakes to create fish habitats.
