Woman's Body Found Off Douglas Roadway Ruled Murder: Police

A woman's body found Friday off a Douglas County roadway has been ruled a murder but the Sheriff believes there's no immediate threat.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — A woman's body found Friday off a Douglas County roadway has been ruled a murder but Sheriff Tim Pounds believes there's no immediate threat to the community. The woman's body was found off the roadway at West Union Hill Road and Ephesus Church Road.

In a statement to Patch, Sheriff's spokesperson MSgt. Jesse Hambrick said, "Details of the investigation are still being withheld to protect the integrity of the investigation; however, Sheriff Pounds wants the community to know that based on the direction the investigation is going, he does not feel that there is an immediate danger to the residents in that area."

At approximately 8 a.m. the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a dead woman located off the roadway at West Union Hill Road and Ephesus Church Road. Deputies responded to the call and found a dead woman's body at that location.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide. Investigators have been working around the clock, following up on leads and investigating the incident.
