Zeta Forces Douglas County To Cancel Thursday In-Person Classes
Douglas County classes will go all-online Thursday after the district canceled in-person learning because of Hurricane Zeta.
DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — All in-person classes scheduled for Thursday in the Douglas County School System have been canceled because of anticipated severe weather spawned by Hurricane Zeta.
Instead, Thursday will be a digital learning day for all students, according to district spokesperson Portia Lake.
"All students will learn from home on a normal schedule," Lake said, "assuming there are no widespread power outages in our area."

All employees who work 10 months — 190 days or fewer — will work from home, Lake said in an emailed statement. All other employees should report to their work location at 10 a.m.
The cancelation follows a tropical storm warning issued Wednesday by the National Weather Service for the metro Atlanta area and much of north Georgia. Heavy rain and strong winds gusting up to 55 mph are expected.
