Welcome to the Thursday edition of Duluth Daily Digest, where you can find all you need to know about happenings and news from around town!

Today, we will continue to have scattered thunderstorms with a high of 82 and a low of 69. Make sure you have your umbrella and rainboots when you leave your house today!

Here's the news from around town:

1) The feds have realized that the unemployment rate in Duluth is steadily declining with more job openings coming. The Duluth unemployment rate is sitting at 3.5% which is lower than the state unemployment rate that is at 3.8%. (Patch)

2) The Atlanta Ice Theater is performing at the Atlanta Ice Forum here in Duluth on Saturday. This event will include performers ice skating while acting, dancing, and singing. This is sure to attract a crowd of all ages! (Fox 5 Atlanta)

3) Courtyard by Marriott has recently opened a new 100-room hotel in Parson's Square. This new hotel is the only one in Downtown Duluth, and has already attracted guests from all over the United States. (Patch)

4) Former Meadowcreek High School teacher is suing Gwinnett County Schools for bad evaluations after videos of him getting arrested at a protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement surfaced. The student population at Meadowcreek is 69% Hispanic and has been affected in some way by ICE. (Patch)

5) The traffic patterns will continue to change on Sardis Church Road as they continue building the new Seckinger High School. A roundabout is currently being constructed on this road to help alleviate some of the before and after school traffic. (AJC)

1) Weekly Virtual Singo With Casey at Truck & Tap - This event is continuing weekly at Truck & Tap in Downtown Duluth. 7:30 p.m.

2) Summer Cornhole League in Downtown Duluth- Peach State Cornhole will be starting its season on the town green at 6:30 p.m.

3) Goodwill of North Georgia Hiring Event- Goodwill will be holding a hiring event for those in need of a job at its Pleasant Hill Road location. 10 a.m.
