Duluth Students Receive National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarships

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the winners on May 29.

Several students living in Duluth learned this week that they are recipients of National Merit college-sponsored scholarships.

The students are:

  • Eunji Ahn, a graduating senior at the , who plans to study neurology at Northwestern University
  • Rebecca A. Deitsch, who is homeschooled and plans to study education at the University of Dallas
  • Hammad A. Khalid, a Peachtree Ridge High School graduating senior, who plans to study cardiology at the University of Georgia

All total, there were 2,500 students across the country who received the awards. The scholarships provide $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.

An additional group of scholars will be announced in July, which will bring the total number of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship recipients in the 2013 competition to 4,500.
