Duluth Public Works officials are prepared for the snow that is expected to arrive at mid-morning Tuesday (Jan. 28).

Public Works Director Audrey Turner said Monday that workers will be on 12-hour shifts for the severe weather that is forecast. "Our trucks are loaded," Turner said at a City Council work session.

A time breakdown on weather.com calls for "flurries" to begin about 11 a.m. in the Duluth area. That changes to "snow shower" about 3 p.m., and those conditions are expected to last through the evening.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Gwinnett County, beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday. That warning also calls for snow, with accumulation of up to 2 inches.

Also, the warning carries the following advisory:

SNOW COVERED ROADS WILL MAKE FOR HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.

As of 6 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 28), Gwinnett County Public Schools were holding classes as usual.
