Eddie Owen Presents: Scott Ainslie (Workshop & Concert)

Seasoned Acoustic Blues performer, Scott Ainslie, to appear in Duluth for afternoon Slide Guitar Workshop and evening Concert at Red Clay.

Scott Ainslie is due to take on the Red Clay Music Foundry stage as presented by Eddie Owen Presents in Beautiful Downtown Duluth on Saturday, November 17th for a Blues and Slide Guitar Workshop at 2pm in addition to a Concert at 8pm.

Scott Ainslie is a seasoned acoustic performer who logged years with senior musicians on both sides of the color line in the South. He is touring the continental United States this fall, performing and teaching all along his way.

"Scott is the kind of musician they don’t make anymore, in the mold of the late Pete Seeger – unpretentious, dead serious about his craft, dedicated to preserving traditional American music and instruments, unabashedly faithful to left-liberal values, and so versatile he can make you weep one moment over the story of a dying steel town and snicker appreciatively the next at a driving Mississippi blues song full of earthy innuendo...” says Pamela Constable of The Washington Post.

Scott has six solo CD's that showcase a mixture of beautifully wrought traditional blues and his original songs. He spent twenty years working as an artist-in-residence at various colleges in North Carolina and Virginia as well as doing educational residencies in South Carolina and Georgia. Currently, Scott continues to book workshops and concerts discussing the African Roots of American Music at schools, colleges, and graduate schools. As one of the authorities on the music and playing style of Delta Blues legend, Robert Johnson, Scott published a book on Johnson's music: Robert Johnson/At The Crossroads, 1992. Five years later Scott released a Lesson on Johnson's Guitar Techniques to DVD: Robert Johnson’s Guitar Techniques, 1997.

“Ainslie is a veteran touring pro who is frequently found performing in venues up and down the East Coast. With a warm, affable persona, and a wealth of musical knowledge, I highly recommend checking him out when he comes to a town near you. You won’t be sorry.” says Brian M. Owens of Blues Music Magazine.
