Gwinnett Readies for World's Largest Swim Lesson

The World's Largest Swim Lesson is back again!

The annual event takes place, Tuesday, June 18, all across the world -- in more than 20 countries.

At 11 a.m. EST swimmers will all jump simultaneously, in effort to make a new Guinness World Record. In 2011, the record was set with more than 20,000 people diving in at the same time.

The event is organized to provide water parks, community pools and other aquatic facilities with an opportunity to highlight the importance of water safety -- specifically encouraging swimming lessons.

According to the event's website, here in Gwinnett Count the 30-minute event takes place at:

• J.M.Tull YMCA in Lawrenceville
• Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA in Peachtree Corners

Registration for the event is now closed, according to the event website. But, check back with Patch for coverage of the event.
