I-85 Reopens After Fatal Pedestrian Crash Stops Traffic

Police are on the scene investigating the crash which shut down the highway for hours.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — All lanes of I-85 in Gwinnett County have reopened after a multiple-hour shutdown due to a fatal pedestrian crash Thursday, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Police sent out a traffic alert soon before 6 a.m. Thursday saying southbound lanes of I-85 were closed at Boggs Road because of a pedestrian fatality. Only the HOV lane was open at the time.

Police had to push traffic to the southbound access road temporarily.

Then, at 7:40 a.m., police announced that all lanes were reopened.

Around 8 a.m., traffic was still going slowly, Fox5 reported, and police were still on the scene investigating.
