Local news:

1) Local doctor, Audrey Arona, has challenged people to look at the data surrounding vaccines. Dr. Arona has specifically studied breakthrough cases of COVID-19. Breakthrough cases are ones in which someone contracts COVID-19 even after being vaccinated. Dr. Arona says that the vaccine has never proven to be 100% effective, but the data she pulled from the Gwinnett-Newton-Rockdale area comes very close. (FOX 5 Atlanta)

2) On Thursday night, the Gwinnett County Board of Education had its monthly meeting. The previous meeting had a group of parents protesting the wearing of masks in schools. Thursday's meeting was very different in that the conversation shifted around Critical Race Theory. There was also more security at the event. (WSBTV)

3) After many complaints about trash collection, County Commissioner Kirkland Carden proposed new changes. Many complaints include trash not being collected on time, trash trucks leaving more trash than they take, and other companies taking trash. Carden's proposal includes tracking the trash trucks, and implementing a secret shopper program. (CBS Atlanta)

4) In 2013, local Robert Bell went on a murderous shooting rampage that ended in the deaths of three people after an argument. This week, Bell was found guilty of the crime and will be serving three life sentences. The dispute has been used as an example of why citizens are calling for gun reform. (WSBTV)

If you recognize my name and face, it is probably because you've seen me around Parson's Alley at Good Word Brewing. I am there every weekend serving tables, while during the week I am an ESOL teacher at Radloff Middle School. I love Duluth's everything from the diversity, great food and drinks, and the warming culture.
