Sinkholes Close Venture Drive In Gwinnett County

Sinkholes have temporarily closed Venture Drive In Gwinnett County. Officials say they are working to open the road as quickly as possible.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Venture Drive is closed Thursday, between Steve Reynolds Blvd at Pleasant Hill Road, due to sinkholes that have developed along Venture Drive, according to Joe Sorenson, communications director, Gwinnett County.

"The sinkholes along Venture Drive are on private property and are related to private pipes which are not draining properly," Sorenson said in an email to Patch. "Staff of the Department of Water Resources, the Department of Transportation and Police Services are actively assessing and monitoring the situation. The County is also taking necessary action to have the situation remedied and Venture Drive will be reopened to the public as soon as possible."
