Women’s Clothing Retailer Closing All 5 Georgia Locations
A women's clothing store is closing more than 200 locations across the country, including five in Georgia.
ATLANTA, GA — Avenue, a plus-size women's clothing store, is closing all of its U.S. locations, including its five locations in Georgia. The company will be closing all 222 stores in 33 states, according to Hilco Merchant Resources, the company carrying out the liquidation.
Clothing, shoes and accessories at the store are currently discounted leading up to the closings. The store sells plus size clothes in sizes 14-32. Hilco did not specify when stores would close but urged shoppers to act quickly.
"Avenue shoppers will be amazed not only by the incredible savings, but also by the great selections and styles available at the closing sale," according to a press release from Hilco. "Given the popularity of the brand and the seasonal trends, merchandise is sure to sell out quickly. We are encouraging consumers to shop early and take advantage of these offers."

- Shamrock Plaza, 3932C North Druid Hills Road, Decatur
- Gwinnett Marketfair, 3675 Satellite Blvd., Duluth
- Southlake Festival, 1524 Southlake Parkway, Morrow
- Newnan Crossing, 559 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan
According to Coresight Research, which tracks store openings and closings in the U.S., major retailers have announced more than 7,500 closings in 2019, which exceeds the total stores closures of over 5,500 in all of 2018.

Coresight said specialist apparel stores like children's clothing store Gymboree, women's retailer Dressbarn, Charming Charlie and Charlotte Russe have contributed to a majority of the closings.
