In Case You Missed It: Thurmond Considering Run for DeKalb CEO
The former school superintendent may challenge Lee May for the county's top leadership spot.

Michael Thurmond may challenge interim DeKalb CEO Lee May this fall for the county’s top elected position.
Thurmond told the AJC on Wednesday that people are encouraging him to run, but he hasn’t made any decision.
Thurmond is a former DeKalb schools superintendent, state labor commissioner and Georgia House member. Thurmond took over a troubled county school system that had been placed on probation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and a majority of whose board members had been removed from office by Gov. Nathan Deal.
