The entire staff of the Dunwoody Police Department is committed to serving the citizens of Dunwoody throughout the year. We appreciate the continued support of our community and know that without our community’s support, our job would be much more difficult. Once a year, we pause to recognize some of our highest achievers, those officers and civilian staff who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in service to our citizens. It is important for us to recognize excellence amongst our staff.

OFFICER OF THE YEAR 2020
Officer Anwar Sillah (Officer of the 3rd Qrtr 2020)

Officer Sillah’s management of our Citizens’ Police Academy program has been outstanding. He successfully restructured the program to conform with COVID pandemic restrictions, allowing alumni to continue their classes and graduate during this challenging year. During the 3rd Quarter, he brainstormed and coordinated a “Light the Way Dunwoody” salute to Class of 2020 graduates, when most students were unable to experience a traditional ceremony. Officer Sillah spearheaded the department’s contribution towards the City’s “The Picnic Table Project”, gathering and organizing PD volunteers. Officer Sillah was proactive in using our new mobile digital sign for important traffic updates and safety messages during COVID on our public roads. He also played an important role on the recruiting team, overseeing PT testing for candidates. Throughout the height of BLM protests, Officer Sillah handled sensitive questions from both the media and the public in a professional and non-biased manner. Including a protest at City Hall and a CNN interview that was released nationally. Officer Sillah never fails to assist anyone who asks for his help on a project, regardless of the unit or his job description. He is a great example of what being a “team player” is all about.

EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 2020
Property & Evidence Technician Vanessa Ollee (Employee of the 3rd Qrtr 2020)
