DEKALB COUNTY, GA — The first day of school in DeKalb County is on Monday, Aug. 6 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you'll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. The DeKalb County School District has released its 2018-2019 calendar for the county's public schools.
The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.
- Aug. 6: First Day of School
- Sept. 3: Labor Day
- Oct. 4-5: Fall Break
- Oct. 8: Columbus Day
- Nov. 6: Teacher’s Workday
- Nov. 19-23: Thanksgiving Break
- Dec. 21: Last Day of First Semester
- Dec. 24-31: Winter Break
- Jan. 1-3: Winter Break
- Jan. 7: First Day of Second Semester
- Jan. 21: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Feb. 15: February Break
- Feb. 18: Presidents’ Day
- March 8: Teacher’s Workday
- April 1-5: Spring Break
- May 23: Last Day of School
- May 27: Memorial Day
